Strasbourg, Day 2 of 2

I wasn't particularly stoked about this trip since I had never really heard about this area, but I am so glad that I went! On sunday, we saw a castle before we headed back that afternoon. Here are some pics from the Haut Koenigsbourg Castle.

the little village where the restaurant and wine tasting was

the sommelier who taught the wine-tasting lesson
that CUPA had arranged for us

nice and crisp

the sparkling wine we tasted

lunch:
chicken, grilled slices of cheese.
perfect and tender!

vanilla ice cream, a bit of cake and some liquor on top
 in the mould of a kouglehopf, a traditional
alsacian pastry.

I have really become a fan of muscat here.
We were able to buy the wine after the tasting.
I certainly did!

time to head back to paris!
poor us...

Strasbourg, Day 1 of 2

this clock was amazing. at the hour (it was afternoon), the young man became
a middle aged man (the young man passed the skeleton that symbolized death).
It moves on the hour, every hour, and every day, and every month...(I think).
I think that is was even made in the middle ages.
Wouldn't it be great to see a time-lapse film of this over the course of a year?
Being able to watch everything move...

not too rare, not over-cooked

A friend directed me here while I was still
in the states. A great Jewish deli/bakery in the Marais!

cheesecake! light, not too sweet, creamy...

I biked home; not many people can say that they have conquered

Pompidou Center

at first, I was a little skeptical.

modern art? ohh heh heh heh. no thanks.

but then,

I had a change of heart.

Maybe I should go and check it out. 

I can't really turn it down for fear of not being

into modern art, right?

the pool looks incredibly deep but is actually only 1/2" of water, if that.

I super loved it. 

super-hyper loved it.

this video was captivating.
it was the progression shown from cow to beef, only shown in reverse.
I don't think that I ate meet for a while after that.
(okay, at least not that night. not beef, anyway)

eerie. the cubes were different sizes but looked to be the same
size because of the convex, normal and concave mirrors.
only don't ask me which is which.
j'ai aucune idee.

trippin' out!

this was a room that you could go into and kinda play around in.
pictures were taken and fun was had, let me assure you.

When I fist saw this painting, I was disgusted.
The flies, the flesh, the lurid colors.
But despite all that, I could not stop looking at it.
I think that is what art is about...
provoking some reaction, no matter if it is rapture or disgust

Is this art?
This work sparked quite a debate when it was first displayed.
If you can't tell, it is a urinal
