Versailles

The second of two palaces in as many days. In as many countries!
This update is a little delayed...
all of these photos were taken on september 8th.

just had to give a shout out to myspace and all of it's glory. mirror pic!
IN THE HALL OF MIRRORS.

I just love the expressions on their faces

displeased.

not amused.

Of course, all of the rooms in the palace were decked out in gold, gems, rare paintings, fancy porcelain vases, statues made from moon rocks...I think you know which one of those items I made up, but you get the gist.

I don't really know what made this room so extra-extravagant that it received the title "room of abundance", but I couldn't resist.

the grand canal. not to be dumb, but it was REALLY big. I think that it is an hour to walk from one end to the other.

trianon

the grand canal again, this time with little rowboats on it. taken from closer to the palace.

the palace.
or at least a side of it.

All in all, it was very fascinating. It wasn't difficult to get there at all, and the weather was perfect, considering that tout le monde was in the palace from 10-12
(when versailles is open, but not the gardens).
It was hot in there, despite the slight chill in the outside air.
There was also a stunning exhibit in the trianon that was the best part of the trip
for my mom and I. It was "interdite" to take photos, but here is the link:
The general idea of it was to have contemporary designers create
works that were modeled after 17th fashion.

More posts to come!
